Pregis, a provider of protective packaging materials, has completed the acquisition of US-based Free-Flow Packaging International (FP International) for an undisclosed amount.

Based in Fremont of California, FP International produces a range of protective packaging products and packaging systems.

With around 360 employees, the company operates five manufacturing facilities, including two in the US and one each in Germany, France and the Netherlands.

In the US, the company has manufacturing facilities in Illinois and Kentucky. Pregis intends to continue manufacturing operations in the acquired facilities.

The company’s product portfolio includes packaging-made-on-site (PMOS), iodegradable, sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging, void fill air cushions, and kraft bubble mailers.

The firm produces products such as CELL-O EZ, Novus and Pillow Pak Green inflatable packaging air cushions. It also design and install custom dispensing storage systems for air cushions.

Pregis president and CEO Kevin Baudhuin said: “Pregis and FP International will now be moving forward as one company. This will benefit our combined customer base by providing a robust set of diverse solutions and accelerated product development—most notably to address growing e-commerce shipping requirements.

“This also significantly strengthens Pregis’ geographic position within new international markets, supporting our global growth strategy.”

Under Olympus Partners ownership, Pregis has completed six acquisitions in the past four years.

The other five acquisitions include Rex Performance Products, Sharp Packaging, 3M Company’s PolyMask protective films business, Easypack paper-based protective packaging systems and Eagle Film Extruders.

Pregis provides advanced protective packaging materials, equipment systems and surface protection solutiosn for a wide variety of consumer and industrial market segments, including food, pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical devices, agricultural, e-commerce, retail, automotive, transportation, furniture, electronics, building, construction and military/aerospace.

In February this year, Pregis acquired US-based Rex Performance Products (RPP) to strengthen its foam manufacturing capability.

Founded in 2011, RPP offers laminated foam technology and employs 85 people at its facilities located in Marysville, Michigan, US.

The acquisition is a part of Pregis’ effort to strengthen its position as one of the largest foam producers in North America.
