ProMach, an American packaging solutions firm, has snapped up Etiflex, a Mexico-based producer of pressure-sensitive and radio frequency identification (RFID) labels, for an undisclosed price.

The addition of Etiflex further expands ProMach’s labelling and coding capabilities throughout North America and represents the company’s first acquisition in the Mexican market.

Established in 1981 in Mexico City, Etiflex is said to be one of the major converters in Mexico specialising in variable information-printed labels, tickets, and RFID labelling.

The company offers a portfolio of label converting solutions catering to various industries such as food and beverage, textile, personal care, automotive, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and retail and logistics.

In addition to labels, Etiflex manufactures tickets, bracelets, and badges for events and transportation.

ProMach president and CEO Mark Anderson said: “We are pleased to welcome the Etiflex team to ProMach.

“Their addition to our business continues the expansion of our label converting capabilities, and it significantly extends our ability to offer a complete portfolio of labelling equipment solutions beyond our existing markets in the United States and Canada.

“This acquisition truly supports our commitment to provide best-in-class labelling and coding solutions and support from a partner that is geographically close to our customers, wherever they are located throughout North America.”

Etiflex, along with its workforce exceeding 500 employees, will integrate into ProMach’s labelling and coding business line under the leadership of group president Alan Shipman.

Complementing other product brands like ID Technology, EPI, Panther, Code Tech, and Greydon, ProMach’s labelling and coding unit offers solutions to customers across North America.

The label converting facilities of ProMach offer decorative labels for varying volumes, whether high or low, through flexographic and digital capabilities. They also produce blank and shell labels, RFID labels, speciality labels, and other offerings.

Shipman said: “Etiflex brings a trusted industry reputation for providing exceptional quality products, and their geographic footprint will provide tremendous benefits to our current and future customer base in Mexico.

“With this expansion of our growing label production capabilities and reach, we continue to deliver high quality labels to customers faster, because we’re closer. This means real bottom line benefits for them due to shorter shipping distances – especially for our multinational customers.”

Earlier this year, ProMach acquired Zanichelli Meccanica, an Italy-based supplier of filling, closing, and processing equipment for the international food sector.
