American packaging company TricorBraun has acquired spirits packaging distributor UniquePak and industrial packaging distributor Alplas Products, both based in Australia, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisitions expand TricorBraun’s footprint in Australia and bolster its position as a packaging provider in the country and New Zealand (ANZ).

TricorBraun entered the region with the acquisitions of Cormack Packaging in 2021, PB Packaging in 2022, and Plas-Pak WA earlier this year.

TricorBraun ANZ managing director Andrew Allsop said: “These acquisitions broaden our capabilities for spirits and industrial packaging across Australia and New Zealand.

“The UniquePak and Alplas teams are highly respected for their expertise, focus on quality, and customer service, and we look forward to investing in their continued growth.”

Alplas Products, which is based in Victoria, offers taps, fittings, metal and plastic drums, closures, and in-house assembly services.

TricorBraun will now incorporate Alplas Products’ complete range of industrial packaging products into its existing portfolio.

UniquePak imports glass and related packaging products for the wine, spirit, food, and pharmaceutical markets of Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the US.

The New South Wales-based company also offers personalised and tailored products like glass bottles, closures, presentation boxes, and decorations.

Through the acquisition, TricorBraun will use UniquePak’s expertise to broaden its range of glass packaging solutions and enhance its capabilities for clients both in the ANZ region and worldwide.

UniquePak managing director Travis Norman said: “For nearly a decade, customers have relied on UniquePak for our wide range of design and sourcing capabilities, and they can continue to do so with the added benefits of TricorBraun’s resources.

“TricorBraun’s extensive capabilities, along with its dedication to quality and customer service, make it a perfect partner for our next chapter.”

All the employees of UniquePak and Alplas Products will continue working with TricorBraun.

The companies will operate independently as UniquePak, a TricorBraun company, and Alplas Products, a TricorBraun company.

Both packaging distributors will eventually shift towards adopting the TricorBraun ANZ brand.

Canterbury Partners was the financial adviser to TricorBraun for both transactions.
