Packaging solutions provider ProMach has acquired Zanichelli Meccanica (Zacmi), a supplier of filling, closing, and processing equipment for the international food sector.

Italy-based Zacmi also manufactures seaming and pasteurisation technologies.

Zacmi’s acquisition is said to enhance ProMach’s range of products and solidify its standing as one of the major suppliers of systems integration, filling, and process solutions in the world.

This deal will also provide Zacmi the chance to offer more solutions in market segments that ProMach now serves, such as beverage and powdered goods.

ProMach president and CEO Mark Anderson said: “The addition of Zacmi further strengthens our position as one of the industry’s leading suppliers of filling and process technology.

“This acquisition also allows us to add key products to ProMach’s overall packaging equipment portfolio, like food can filling and seaming.”

Established in 1954, Zacmi is said to provide closing and sterilisation machines for food and pet food products, as well as seamers for metal cans.

It offers pasteurisation tunnels for sterilising food products and has established rehydrated pea and legume preparation range to help its food clients.

The Italian firm holds around 50 patents and is known for its hygienic machine designs. It has supplied more than 2,500 machines all over the world.

Zacmi has an operating subsidiary in the US and Italian-based R&D and manufacturing facilities to develop new packaging equipment solutions.

Under the deal, Zacmi and its full team will join the primary packaging business family of the packaging solutions provider.

Zacmi current managing director Giorgio Boselli said: “ProMach has a proven track record of investing in its companies and leveraging its scale to better serve its customers. In ProMach, we have found a partner that will enhance the value of our business and ensure continuity for our customers and our people.

“Our employees will benefit from ProMach’s extensive portfolio of solutions and relationships, and we know that this move will ensure the continued growth of Zacmi.”

ADVANT-Nctm, Thompson Hine, KPMG, and EY supported ProMach, while Cavour Corporate Finance provided strategic and financial advice and LS Lexius Sinacta handled legal affairs for Zacmi on the transaction.
