Protective packaging provider Engineered Foam Packaging (EFP) has acquired the North Carolina-based natural fibre insulated shipper NatureKool.

The acquisition aligns with EFP’s strategy to provide the US market with a full range of high-quality and dependable cold chain packaging solutions.

It adds a regional link to EFP’s Temperature Solutions Group’s geographic growth and supports its commitment to environmental responsibility.

EFP president John Hoeper said: “We continue to invest in our business with a focus on applying our unique capabilities to unlock the value of breakthrough packaging needs.

“This acquisition of NatureKool augments our capabilities and strengthens our presence in the growing field of curbside recyclable packaging.”

With the acquisition of NatureKool, EFP will be able to offer natural fibre thermal packaging with the same thermal performance currently offered by EPS.

With NatureKool joining the EFP Temperature Solutions Group, cold chain customers will receive more assistance, and current and potential customers will gain from the environmental and health advantages.

Products made by NatureKool are compostable and curbside recyclable because they are made of natural fibres that are grown without the use of harmful chemicals, EFP said.

NatureKool CEO Joe Grzyb said: “We couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the possibilities for the future.

“The integration of NatureKool into EFP will provide the additional resources, expertise, and insights that will expand our high-performance, natural fibre insulation product lines while we continue to earn our reputation for excellence in delivery and customer service.”

Utilising expanded polystyrene (EPS) material, EFP’s Temperature Solutions Group offers temperature assurance packaging for the efficient and secure transport of pharmaceuticals, food distribution, vaccinations, and other temperature-sensitive products.

The protective packaging provider has a product offering featuring technology that has refrigerated or frozen applications. Its COE Labs offers customised design and testing services and packaging solutions along with qualification and validation services to meet all regulatory requirements.
