Snap Kitchen will introduce the plant-based packaging in 35 locations across Austin, Dallas, Houston and Philadelphia.

The compostable eco-friendly packaging will allow the omnichannel retailer to reduce their environmental impact and meet its commitment to global sustainability.

Snap Kitchen is replacing the current recyclable plastic trays with the new plant-based packaging, in a bid to reduce their use of plastic by 500,000 lbs per annum.

The decision of using an eco-friendly packaging is beneficial for the consumers who are conscious about their carbon footprint.

Five new compostable trays can be produced with the energy that it earlier consumed to create one petroleum plastic tray.

The use of compostable trays will also help reduce to reduce the carbon emissions of the omnichannel retailer from packaging manufacturing by 66%.

The packaging is said to be microwave and oven safe and each dish will be provided with proper heating instructions on their packaging label.

In addition, the one-time use containers can be easily discarded in a compost bin or dumped into a conventional garbage canister, enabling to contribute zero toxicity to the environment.

Snap Kitchen CEO Dale Easdon said: “We believe in clean eating for a cleaner earth and make every meal from scratch daily.

“Since inception, our commitment to locally-sourced products, responsibly-sourced meats and ingredients containing zero additives or GMOs has been paramount.

“We’re thrilled to round out our commitment to our customers by offering an eco-friendly container to remain a sustainable and eco-conscious company.”

Snap Kitchen has also noted that its commitment to donate all unsold food to local charities in each market reflects their brand value in giving back to the good.

Snap Kitchen has collaborated with compostable products manufacturer World Centric on the initiative, which donates 25% of its profits to global grassroots social and environmental programs.

Based in Austin of Texas, Snap Kitchen provides healthy comfort foods in the form of meals, sides, juices and snacks.
