BOBST was a natural choice for the new machine following on from the installation of their first BOBST metallizer in 2018. The EXPERT K5 was installed during the pandemic in December 2020; like Panverta’s first machine it is equipped with AluBond® and DarkNight® to increase output of high barrier, high adhesion, low defect metallized films. The new machine additionally has the BOBST AlOx process for the production of high barrier clear films.

Panverta was established in 1989 and is widely known as one of the most reliable and forward-thinking manufacturers of CPP and LLDPE film. Panverta products are used in flexible packaging for a wide range of commercial brands in both domestic and international markets. The company is also experienced in vacuum metallizing to provide extra value to their film and has capacity of 20,500 MT/year of metallized film.

High Barrier Opaque and Clear Films

With the combination of processes that Panverta has on their new machine, they can produce high barrier, high adhesion opaque and transparent films with low defects on a range of substrates including CPP and PE.

BOBST AluBond® initially developed to increase metal adhesion and dyne level on the most commonly used film substrates is now becoming the standard metallizing process for polyolefin based PP substrates due to its ability to increase barrier levels on these film types. When AluBond® is applied to CPP films it also provides enhancement of oxygen (OTR) and water vapour (WVTR) barrier performance. The DarkNight® process is designed to achieve high barrier metallized films at a lower cost due to the fact that it eliminates the need to use high Optical Density levels. An enhanced barrier performance is achieved by reducing defects during the metallization process. Working in conjunction with BOBST Hawkeye, the process is a major step forward in the journey towards full aluminium foil replacement with high barrier metallized films.

The BOBST AlOx process which has been established in the market for 15 years allows production of high barrier transparent films which are also recyclable and can be applied to a wide range of substrates including mono-materials. Commenting on the new machine, Mr Suherman Tanjung, Director at PT Panverta said “We have been extremely happy with our first K5 metallizer which has been in operation now for over 3 years so when we needed to expand our capacity, we didn’t hesitate at looking at a second BOBST. Our new machine has been running since the beginning of this year and is running well. We look forward to continuing our relationship with BOBST in the future.”
