Flexible packaging and material science company ProAmpac has acquired speciality paper, film and foil packaging products maker Specialty Packaging.

Specialty Packaging, based in Fort Worth, Texas, is a supplier of paper, film, foil bags, sandwich wraps, basket liners, and other specialised products for well-known fast-food and foodservice businesses.

The company has a 100,000ft² facility, which produces custom and stock paper, film, and foil goods.

The acquisition will extend ProAmpac’s reach in the foodservice sector and its presence in the southern US with the help of Specialty Packaging’s product line and manufacturing capabilities.

It will also help ProAmpac to expand its range of highly customised, recyclable food packaging solutions and increase its paper bag converting capability.

ProAmpac founder and chief executive officer Greg Tucker said: “Specialty Packaging has a very complementary offering of high-quality products and a proven commitment to customer service.

“I am eager to welcome the Specialty Packaging team to the ProAmpac family.”

Tucker added: “We are excited to expand our customer relationships and enhance our manufacturing presence as we work together to strengthen our position as an industry leader in speciality, sustainable packaging.”

Specialty Packaging president Hank Dorris said: “We are pleased to join forces with the ProAmpac team, who values the history of our family-owned business and are committed to our company’s long-term growth.

“With ProAmpac’s extensive and comprehensive manufacturing capabilities, we will be able to better serve our existing customers while expanding into exciting new end-markets.”

In February this year, ProAmpac acquired Canada-based flexible packaging products manufacturer Belle-Pak Packaging for an undisclosed sum.

ProAmpac is owned by Pritzker Private Capital along with management and other co-investors.

The company has more than 50 locations worldwide, employing around 5,800 people who serve over 5,000 customers in 90 countries.

ProAmpac creates flexible and sustainable packaging and material science solutions for a variety of applications, including consumer, healthcare, e-commerce, retail, and industrial goods.
