US-based plastic packaging products maker Placon has added its new Crystal Seal Cravings product line to its stock food product range.

Made from post-consumer recycled PET material, the Craving containers provide a tamper-evident lid feature to keep the product inside safe from external meddling hands.

Placon said that the new range also has a #1 recycling symbol to help meet sustainability goals.

According to Placon, the firm’s crystal-clear PCR EcoStar material makes the food the star and offers many merchandising options. The option for custom printing is also available for the cups.

The Cravings products are suitable for fresh-cut fruits, veggies, cold deli, and freshly prepared food items, the company said.

The tamper-evident feature will help keep the food safe and secure for curbside pick-up, food delivery, and fresh, on-the-go convenience. It also helps to detect if the package has been tampered with.

Placon is a designer and producer of custom and stock plastic packaging for the food, medical, and retail markets.

It has production plants in Madison, Wisconsin; Elkhart, Indiana; Plymouth, Minnesota; and West Springfield, Massachusetts.

In February last year, the firm announced a new recyclable oxygen barrier material, dubbed OxyStar. It uses an active oxygen barrier, which ceases oxygen ingress through a free radical chain reaction within the packaging sidewalls.

Claimed to be the world’s first recyclable PET barrier material, the patent-pending OxyStar comes with a #1 recycling symbol.
