Aptar Pharma, a business unit of AptarGroup, has broken ground on the new facility in Mumbai, India, to better serve customers in the region.

Aptar Pharma stated that the groundbreaking event took place on the 10th anniversary of manufacturing at Aptar Mumbai.

Being constructed on a 3.5-acre site at the Palava Industrial and Logistics Park at Taloja in Mumbai, the new facility is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2023.

Aptar India and SEA president Kanwal Tikoo said: “Aptar Pharma has established market leadership position as a pharma packaging solutions company and we continue to grow our influence in this part of the world as the go-to drug delivery expert.”

Aptar Mumbai is currently involved in the assembly of metered-dose valves and pumps.

The new facility is being built to further increase Aptar Mumbai’s manufacturing capacity, including the addition of moulding capabilities to deliver more advanced product solutions to pharma customers in South East Asia.

The new facility in Mumbai is in line with the company’s localisation strategy, as well as a direct response to meet the increasing demand in the region.
