Packaging and paper company Mondi has expanded the range and increased the capacity of its saturating kraft paper, Advantage MF Boost, to offer more options to customers.

Advantage MF Boost is a saturating kraft grade suitable for diverse decorative and compact laminate applications. This grade provides optimal resin absorption, more homogeneity, and consistent products for converters, said Mondi.

The move is intended to improve and grow its service to producers of internal and external building panels, worktops, furniture and technical films.

Mondi will maximise capacity across its mill network, providing increased production of its saturating kraft at Mondi Frantschach in Austria and Mondi Dynäs in Sweden.

The expansion is in addition to the previously announced investment in a new paper machine at its Štĕtí plant in the Czech Republic and further increases in production efficiency.

The mills at Frantschach and Dynäs offer short lead times throughout Europe and give clients confidence in service and production backup, the packaging and paper firm said.

With these adjustments, Mondi is demonstrating its commitment to expanding the supply of Advantage MF Boost.

Mondi Kraft Paper COO Roman Senecky said: “We are very committed to boosting production of our Advantage MF Boost in order to serve the markets for decorative and compact laminates as well as industrial and technical films for plywood.

“Our existing infrastructure means we can produce and deliver this essential porous kraft paper globally, in suitable quantities, providing a reliable supply to all our existing and new customers.”

The company has also improved formation, enhanced drying qualities, and accelerated production via increased efficiency in the paper machines that run the saturating kraft paper.

Advantage MF Boost has a porous nature and is an unbleached, natural brown kraft paper. It is made with responsibly sourced fresh fibres from Sweden and Austria and is available with PEFC or FSC certification.

The kraft paper is said to have very absorbent properties due to its long fibre pulp, making it suitable for absorbing and transferring the resin that is needed to bind the layers together and create the final laminate.
