Paper products technology firm J&J Green Paper (JJGP) has signed multiple global agreements for facilitating large-scale production of its sustainable JANUS solution to fight the global plastics crisis.

JANUS is said to be a patented compound and process to make water-resistant paper and packaging, which is free from toxic oil-based materials.

J&J Green Paper has collaborated with Indonesia-based Sintesa Group, a strategic investment firm with a focus on sustainable excellence.

The paper products technology firm also partnered with India-based Anmol Polymers, a firm engaged in the production and distribution of speciality products for the paper industry.

Both collaborations are intended to support the large-scale production of the JANUS solution.

J&J Green Paper is currently constructing 23 manufacturing sites to exclusively produce JANUS-based products in India, Indonesia, Thailand, and China. The firm is in talks for an additional 30 plants.

Additionally, the paper products technology firm has signed a deal with Mc Papers Argentina, a paper products supplier for the fast-food industry in Latin America.

According to J&J Green Paper, the collaboration deals will allow the firm to make french fry holders, hamburger wraps, and food packaging papers for the food and beverage industry.

J&J Green Paper founder and JANUS inventor Scott Segal said: “We are thrilled by the commitments we have secured and those in the final stages of negotiation.

“We have strategically aligned ourselves with forward-thinking disruptors who share our dedication to finding sustainable solutions.

“The immense opportunities within the fast-food industry highlight the urgent need for an alternative manufacturing approach to cater to the surging demand for food packaging solutions.”

JANUS provides a moisture-proof coating for paper and paper packaging that is said to be all-natural, organic, recyclable, compostable, and retractable. It does not contain the petrochemical found in standard paper and paper packaging, which is responsible for greenhouse gases.

The sustainable solution meets industrial performance criteria while replacing 40 million metric tonnes of polyethene cost-effectively, said the Delaware-based J&J Green Paper.
