Packaging company impacX and sports-themed beverage and food products firm Gatorade have collaborated to launch impacX’s science and technology-powered Gatorade Smart Gx bottles.

The partnership is based on “connected experience”, a new way for Gatorade Smart Gx bottle customers to interact with the physical product.

The Smart Gx bottles are powered by impacX’s smart hydration technology to empower users to focus on their health.

impacX’s smart cap technology is said to convert reusable bottles into a smart, digital device when used along with the accompanying Gx app. It records and gathers hydration data for the user while calculating beverage intake depending on the user’s profile and athletic activity.

According to impacX, the product promotes hydration with intelligent reminders that are activated by sensors located within the bottle’s cap that sense the amount of liquid inside the bottle.

impacX co-founder and senior vice president Yoav Hoshen said: “We’re excited to partner with an international brand such as Gatorade.

“At impacX, we empower consumers through our digital and personalised solutions to help them track their own hydration and wellness needs.”

The packaging firm said that customers and brands both benefit from smart bottle technology. They can receive insights from a mobile app to attain their hydration and wellness goals after they enter their personal data on current fitness and health journeys.

It also displays a progress indicator that reminds users when to take another sip, when their bottle is empty, how many more ounces they need to drink and other information.

Gatorade innovation senior director Drew Palin said: “We have been searching for an innovative technology company to partner with that can deliver personalized daily hydration recommendations and change the way athletes hydrate and fuel.

“impacX has created a smart packaging technology that precisely meets our needs. This new partnership represents the future of packaging and has the potential to improve athlete engagement.”

Now offered in black colour with an option for customisation, the impacX-powered Gatorade Smart Gx bottle comes in a set that includes the bottle, a four-pack of Gx pods, and two Gx Sweat Patches for $69.99.
