Swiss packaging machinery and services provider Bobst has launched a new SPEEDPACK automatic packer to better serve its customers.

Suitable for the EXPERTFOLD 145/165, EXPERTFOLD 170-350 and MASTERFOLD 170-350 system, the new automatic packer has the potential to handle all types of boxes ranging from corrugated, litho-laminated, straight-line, four and six corners to crash-lock bottom.

The new packer will automatically count, stack and band the folded and glued boxes to deliver for palletisation.

According to the company, SPEEDPACK provides a multitude of benefits to operators and accelerate the return on investment for manufacturers and converters.

With the potential to provide the highest possible number of batches per hour, the SPEEDPACK is believed to increase folding-glueing line productivity by up to 25%.

Designed to safely use on the production floor, the system’s automated process avoids the requirement for machine operators to bundle batches together and carry heavy loads to offline bundle-strapping machines.

The company’s human-machine interface (HMI) integrated into SPEEDPACK supports settings to fully automate and handle repeat orders quickly and complete job changeovers within 10 minutes.

Bobst folder-gluers product line director Pierre Binggeli said: “With SPEEDPACK, converters can realise the full potential of their Bobst folding-glueing lines in terms of both quality and productivity.

“This novel innovation combines a range of BOBST patented features designed to take the strain out of the packing process and reduce waste, while at the same time optimising operational accuracy and efficiency.

“At Bobst, we believe automated technologies and processes are key to enabling progress and future-proofing the packaging industry; SPEEDPACK is representative of this vision.”

In January this year, Bobst opened a Digital Inkjet Demonstration Center in Barcelona, which Provides converters and brand owners with an opportunity to witness the Mouvent Cluster Technology that is designed to support label production on a wide range of substrates.
