Plastic packaging products maker Berry Global has partnered with Ingreendients to roll out shampoo and conditioner bottles made from 100% recycled plastic.

The HDPE bottle is created at Berry’s manufacturing plant in Winchester, Virginia, using 100% PCR.

The presence of a flip-top polypropylene closure built with 100% PCR makes the product a total container system that aligns with Ingreendients’ commitment to sustainability.

Ingreendients brand founder Rajat Sharma said: “The beauty industry is responsible for a third of the landfill waste in America.

“One of the core pillars for Ingreendients is sustainable packaging so that we are not creating virgin plastic and adding to the pollution problem.

“Hence our focus was on having the product packaged only in bottles made fully from PCR plastic.”

According to Ingreendients, both the appearance and the inside of the container matter. The commitment of Ingreendients to a responsible product is visible in all aspects of the product.

The brand formula is created using 100% plant-derived ingredients in addition to the container components to create a line of salon-quality haircare products.

Additionally, the company only used 100% recycled resin for its packaging, including the bottle and cap to maintain integrity in all aspects of its business.

Ingreendients said that Berry was the right partner to develop the packaging that suited Ingreendients’ objectives due to its expertise in the business, product knowledge, accessibility of recycled materials, and cooperative connection.

Sharma added: “I wanted to work with an industry leader who is at the forefront of sourcing recycled materials and Berry is a leader in packaging for my industry.

“In addition, as I started to work with them, I was pleasantly surprised by the collaborative process and helping me figure out what was the best result for Ingreendients.”

Ingreendients aims to reduce the plastic waste from personal care products entering landfill by repurposing existing plastic and not creating any new plastic.

Recently, the packaging firm developed a new EasySnacking on-the-go packaging solution for Podravka, a Croatian cream spread brand.
