BASF is offering its new packaging product Styropor P 24 Speed with reduced moulding cycle and conditioning times.

The new Styropor P 24 Speed range, which is approved for food packaging, provides an enhanced mechanical resistance and better flexural and compressive strength.

BASF’s Styropor P 24 Speed packaging material can be used for the production of thin-walled technical mouldings, in addition to food packaging and cool boxes.

With a density of 25 grams per litre, the new grade is said to yield up to 50% shorter moulding cycle time in comparison with Styropor P 326 at an average moulding steam pressure.

The new Styropor P 24 Speed is without flame retardant, and provides better fusion properties and smooth surface finish.

BASF is offering the new packaging grade in three bead sizes ranging from 0.4mm to 1.3mm.

BASF’s performance materials division offers products and services to the four industry sectors, including transportation, construction, industrial applications and consumer goods. The division generated global sales of €7.7bn in 2017.

With around 115,000 employees, BASF Grpu manages five segments, including chemicals, performance products, functional materials and solutions, agricultural solutions and oil and gas.

In September 2017, BASF agreed to divest its paper coating dispersions business in Pischelsdorf of Austria to Synthomer for around €30m.

Synthomer Austria will acquire BASF production site in Pischelsdorf, which produces styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) that can be used in the paper industry, specifically packaging end-markets.

Paper dispersions, along with other additives and pigments, will be applied to enhance print quality of graphic paper, packaging paper and cardboard.

BASF’s dispersions and pigments division develops, produces and sells a range of pigments, resins, additives and polymer dispersions across the globe.

BASF also produces olyamides and polyamide intermediates, which can used in engineering plastics, film, fiber and monofilament applications.

Some of its products include Ultramid B (polyamide 6), Ultramid C (polyamide 6/6.6 copolymer) and Ultramid A (polyamide 6.6).
