Avery Dennison Labels and Packaging Materials has unveiled two new MDO film products with post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.

With the new rMDO white and rMDO clear filmic facestocks, makers can increase package sustainability for a variety of home goods, cosmetics, personal care, and food items.

Avery Dennison rMDO facestocks use fewer resources, keep plastic out of the waste stream, and give the packaging a more genuine appearance.

According to the firm, the products are made using 30% post-consumer recycled content.

It added that the white and transparent rMDO facestocks are similar to other film facestocks in performance during printing, shipping, and application. They also have high print quality with both digital and traditional inks.

They are suitable for curved, contoured, conformable, and squeezable packaging, and the MDO film products can be paired with AD CleanFlake technology to facilitate rigid plastic package recycling.

Avery Dennison Labels and Packaging Materials Films marketing director Anh Marella said: “These new products are ideal for brands seeking to increase the recycled content in their packaging and connect with consumers looking for more eco-friendly products.

“They also meet the needs of converters by integrating recycled content into the label without compromising print and application performance.”

Next month, the company plans to demonstrate the new films along with other products at Labelexpo Americas 2022 in Chicago.

Last week, the firm introduced a new Z2010 adhesive for its wine and spirits portfolio.
