Ardagh Glass Packaging – North America (AGP – North America), a business unit of Ardagh Group, has joined forces with Constellation Brands to design and produce a decorated wine bottle for the latter’s Crafters Union brand.

The 750ml Claret wine bottle features 360-degree decoration and is made of sustainable glass with a better shelf appeal. The word ‘Crafters Union’ is engraved right into the glass bottle, which helps to promote the brand.

New Zealand-based One Design has designed tattoo-style images for the bottle that were replicated into the bottle design leveraging Ardagh’s sculptured embossing software.

The software also helped the design team to deboss the artwork, adding textures and improvements to a higher standard than traditional glass packaging design.

Constellation Brands growth marketing head Victoria Clark said: “Even with such an intricate design, Ardagh Glass Packaging brought our vision to life for the Crafters Union bottle.

“We are thrilled to see it on the shelf for our Australian and New Zealand consumers to enjoy.”

AGP has offered its Development Machine, a highly flexible glass forming system, for both the sampling process and the initial small-batch run, to provide speed to market for the custom bottle design to the Crafters Union project.

AGP – North America food, wine & spirits vice president Darrell Wineman said: “Ardagh Glass Packaging is passionate about innovation through glass decoration and enjoys pushing the technological boundaries of what we can achieve for brands such as Crafters Union.

“We continue to focus on innovations in complex bottle texturing, as well as new design techniques and manufacturing capabilities, to create an extra dimension of creativity and branding for customers like Constellation Brands.”

In November last year, Ardagh Group agreed to snap up South African glass packaging film Consol Holdings for an equity value of $635m.

Ardagh has been producing innovative and recyclable glass bottles and premium wine bottles in the US for more than 125 years.
