Ardagh has supplied 250ml slim nitro cans for Kahlúa Espresso Martini beverages, which are infused with nitrogen.

Launched in late 2016, the nitro can is the RTD packaging solution developed by Ardagh for nitro beverages.

Nitro can is an advanced packaging format that is said to deliver a multi-sensory experience, and was designed to capitalise on the growing nitro coffee trend in major European markets.

Ardagh metal beverage product manager Adriana Escobar said: “It features a fixed widget charged with nitrogen, which delivers a distinct sound upon activation and generates a stunning cascading effect that ultimately tops off the beverage with a crema.”

At present, Kahlúa Espresso Martini is available to the customers in Europe and Australia.

Ardagh said metal has the highest recycling rates of all packaging materials in Europe, and is effectively contributing to the fundamental principles of a circular economy.

Kahlúa global brand manager Romina Mariano said: “Espresso Martini is a classic drink, known and enjoyed worldwide for decades. Infusing nitrogen into the recipe enhances the elegance of the drink and enables consumers to enjoy the velvety froth.”

“Consumers will not need an espresso machine nor a shaker for this one, making this nitro drink and its unrivalled features accessible to a wider market by using a ‘to go’ format.”

Recently, Ardagh has provided its 24 oz. cans for SanTan Brewing’s Mr. Pineapple and MoonJuice IPA craft beers.

SanTan MoonJuice IPA and Mr. Pineapple craft beers in 24 oz cans are marketed across Arizona, including major retailers, convenience stores and multiple on-premise bars and restaurants.

Ardagh Group provides metal and glass packaging solutions to the food, beverage and consumer care brands.

The firm produces metal packaging for all market sectors, including beverage, food, pet food and seafood.

It also provides a range of beverage cans in different shapes and sizes to high volume segments of the drinks market, including beers, flavoured alcoholic beverages (FABs), wine, soft drinks, energy drinks and tea.
