Rieke, part of the TriMas Packaging group, is set to open a new automated plant in Ohio, US to expand its North American manufacturing operations.

The new facility, which is located in New Albany, is currently under construction and expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2022.

Situated near Rieke’s current New Albany manufacturing facility, the new facility will feature advanced injection moulding and assembly capabilities.

The new facility is said to use efficient moulding machines and enhanced workflow approaches to minimise overall energy consumption per unit produced.

Rieke will use the new facility for the production of foaming and traditional dispensers, as well as TriMas Packaging’s latest products used in the beauty and personal care end market.

The New Albany facility will also allow TriMas Packaging to localise the production of different products currently manufactures outside of the US.

TriMas president and CEO Thomas Amato said: “The expansion of our capabilities, in what is commonly referred to as the Beauty Park area of Ohio, will support the future growth of our business with advanced manufacturing technology and operational excellence, while locating close to many of our customers to ensure continued excellent lead times and collaborative product development.

“We are pleased to build upon our strong workforce in New Albany and are thankful for all of our customers which use our products and have enabled us to execute on this opportunity.”

With around 2,000 employees and 20 global locations, TriMas Packaging consists of Rieke, Taplast, Affaba & Ferrari and Rapak brands.

The company offers dispensing, closure and bag-in-box products for customers in the beauty and personal care, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical, industrial and home care end markets.

In December last year, TriMas wrapped up the acquisition of Italian company Affaba & Ferrari, which offers precision caps and closures for food and beverage and industrial product applications.
