Voith Paper North America has been awarded a contract by México-based paper manufacturer Copamex for the installation of a BlueLine stock preparation system at its mill in Anáhuac, Chihuahua, México.

Under the contract, Voith will supply stock preparation system for the PM Hashtag 5 conversion, which aims to drive growth of Copamex into the containerboard and packaging markets in México.

The new BlueLine stock preparation system will feature a variety of raw material including Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) and mixed waste.

Copamex CEO Alonso González said: “By partnering with Voith, we’re working with the company that has the most knowledge in processing highly contaminated furnish, and this will assist us with successfully launching our growth in the containerboard and packaging markets in México.

“The Voith team consistently understands the needs of our projects and customizes our stock preparation systems accordingly.”

The contract scope includes supply of the elements of the stock preparation system, including reliable material handling with automatic wire cutting, reject compactors, sludge handling, water clarification and effluent treatment.

Once the stock preparation system is commissioned in early 2019, the mill is expected to have output of 260,000 metric tons of testliner and corrugated medium per year for use in containerboard production.

Copamex sells over 500,000 tons of paper and corrugating products annually in three paper mills. It also manufactures 200,000 tons of containerboard products per year at two corrugating plants.

Recently, US-based paper and packaging producer Green Bay Packaging awarded a contract to Voith Paper to providea complete packaging production line for the new paper mill in North America.
