In 2017, Valmet supplied a similar system for the PM 10 at the BillerudKorsnäs Skärblacka mill.

The PQV system will be installed on the mill’s paper machine PM 7 to maximize the efficiency of the production line, improve the quality of the end-product and boost business performance.

The order has been included in Valmet’s first quarter of 2018 orders. The system was accepted by the mill and taken into production in August 2018.

Valmet business manager of machine vision, automation, Aki Torvinen, said: “Having two systems of the same kind makes operation, upkeep and maintenance easier for the mill. Additionally, as Valmet has a local service center nearby, the mill has easy access to service support.”

The PQV system delivered by Valmet includes a Valmet IQ Web Inspection System (WIS) and a Valmet IQ Web Monitoring System (WMS) with 20 cameras.

The WIS includes transmission and surface inspection for both sides of the web on the 4.9-meter-wide PM 7.

A comprehensive machine vision solution, PQV covers the entire pulp and paper production process, as well as the production processes of other sheet-based materials.
