Developed in collaboration with global packaging firm TricorBraun, the new cap uses 100% post-consumer recycled materials including plastic clothes hangers.

TricorBraun said that the development marks the first liquid dish soap packaging to be made completely of post-consumer recyclable materials in the market.

The new development is a part of Seventh Generation’s effort to reduce environmental impact and ensure each of its packaging components is virgin petroleum free and widely recyclable by 2020.

Seventh Generation CEO Joey Bergstein said: “This small design change will make a big impact on reducing the footprint of our dish soap, and we hope, will also set a new standard for the industry.

“Caps are among the last piece of the packaging portfolio to convert to virgin petroleum free plastic and with this announcement, we’re happy to report about 85 percent of Seventh Generation packaging components are already there.”

TricorBraun and Seventh Generation intended to develop the cap using 100% post-consumer recycled materials, while making it effective.

The collaboration also focused on the quality and addressing consumer preference, TricorBraun said.

The new recycled dish cap is planned to be made available in stores this month.

Seventh Generation provides full line of laundry, dish and household cleaners, baby products including Free & Clear diapers, training pants and baby wipes, plus recycled paper products and recycled plastic trash bags, and feminine care products.

Earlier this year, TricorBraun has redesigned flavored tequila bottle for Austin-based Dulce Vida Spirits to optimize shelf placement and improve brand recognition.

Dulce Vida Spirits earlier launched its fruit-infused flavored tequilasin stock bottle with the cork which stood at nearly 14 inches tall. This made them to be placed on the top or bottom of shelf in the retail store.

To address the shelf placement issue, TricorBraun has redesigned the original Dulce Vida bottle to obtain optimal shelf placement.
