The company intends to invest €12m to construct the manufacturing plant in the Valframbert Business Park of Alençon, as part of its ‘Close to You’ strategy.

At present, United Caps is working with the Communauté Urbaine d’Alençon (CUA) and Orne Développement to negotiate the purchase of 25,000m² of land for the new facility.

As part of the first phase, the company will develop 4,000m² of space at the facility. The project is expected to employ 15 staff in two years.

United Caps CEO Benoit Henckes said: “With our ‘Close to You’ strategy, we seek to place our factories as close to our customers as possible, as shown by the two new factories that will open next year, in Malaysia and the UK.

“We are especially interested in building a factory in Alençon because of its proximity to customers, who will have access to our full portfolio of solutions, and will also benefit from the proximity to our R&D centre in Messia (Jura, France) if customization or bespoke development is required.

“We also like the fact that the Institut Supérieur de Plasturgie d’Alençon (ISPA – Institute of Plastics and Composites) is located nearby, ensuring a source of highly skilled staff.”

United Caps, which is a preferred partner to major companies, is engaged in the designing and production of advanced caps and closures, which can be used in a range of applications.

With more than 500 employees, the company operates manufacturing facilities in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg and Spain.

In July this year, United Caps opened a new facility in the UK, as part of the Close to You strategy.

The new €20m facility will be constructed in Dinnington of Rotherham for the manufacturing of beverage and dairy closures.

The initial facility will be 5,000m², with an option to extend to 20,000m² in case of increased demand in the future.
