The SIG’s new smart factory solution, upon connecting to every machine in a filling line, can collect unlimited data and shows it in preconfigured or personally designed reports.

It also allows customers to view charts showing operational and technical efficiency as well as view downtime incidents from their desktops, tablets or smartphones.

SIG automation and digitalization senior product manager Ayed Katrangi said: “56% of companies intend to increase efficiency by more than 20% over the next 5 years.

“combiLink can make a decisive contribution to this. It is a smart factory solution that offers a completely new way of monitoring and analysing the efficiency and productivity of a filling line, enabling customers to take on-time decisions fast and to automate operations to meet the needs of Industry 4.0, improve filling line OEE and optimise TCO, based on ISO 2240 standards.”

Designed to unlock filling line potential, the solution provides smart notifications to alert the team to incidents in order to avoid bottlenecks and costly downtime.

The aseptic packaging solutions provider said that the combiLink, which can seamlessly connect every machine in a filling line, provides producers a single end-to-end window to view current and historical levels of efficiency and performance.

It also allows producers to see where improvements can be made in the future.

The connectivity of the combiLink solution is based on the industrial communication standard OMAC. It uses OPC UA technology to collect unlimited data from every machine and store it securely.

Moreover, it can send out data to MES, ERP and other business intelligence systems while its open architecture and standards-based interface allows it to connect easily to third party applications such as cloud based systems and predictive analysis tools.

SIG said in a statement: “This two way communication enables unlimited operation applications with the option of customer plug-ins.”
