Switzerland-based packaging firm SIG Combibloc Group has rolled out its on-the-go carton bottle SIG DomeMini with less plastic content.

SIG DomeMini is a small-size carton pack that provides all the functions of a plastic bottle and the sustainability benefits of a carton pack.

The carton is said to be a recyclable product that is mostly built of FSC-certified paperboard and powered entirely by renewable energy.

The latest offering is said to provide several environmental advantages in comparison to other packaging solutions like plastic bottles.

According to SIG, the pack has a high proportion of renewable materials derived from forests and incorporates smart resource-efficient, and space-saving design.

With a volume change of just 15 minutes, the SIG DomeMini 12 Aseptic filling machine can aseptically fill 12,000 packages per hour in a total of seven volume sizes ranging from 180 to 350 ml.

This increases the effectiveness and adaptability and offers beverage producers a fantastic return on investment, the packaging firm said.

SIG chief marketing officer Christoph Wegener said: “The market for on-the-go beverages continues to grow and offers immense potential.

“By combining convenience with sustainability, SIG DomeMini sets the stage and offers a new drinking experience for consumers, who can now enjoy their favourite drink on the move while helping to reduce plastic waste.”

It is useful for customers such as travellers and commuters as it provides superior ergonomic benefits.

The SIG DomeMiniCap’s central location makes it ideal for drinking straight from a bottle.

It is simple to open and shut again which ensures secure bag storage that is always available for drinking, the Swiss packaging company added.

SIG’s mission to develop packaging for better continues with the launch of this compact-size SIG DomeMini carton bottle. The offering is now only available in China, with a chance to launch in other countries soon.

Wegener added: “We can now offer food & beverage companies a bottle-shaped carton product family for the on-the-go and at-home occasion that does not compromise on convenience and delivers superior sustainability performance.”
