US-based flexible packaging and material science company ProAmpac has expanded the ProActive Recyclable series of products with the launch of ProActive Recyclable Paper-1000.

The latest offering is said to be heat-sealable packaging with a strong moisture barrier and superior directional tear properties.

According to ProAmpac, the new paper packaging is the first in a line of new curbside recyclable paper-based packaging solutions.

ProAmpac chief commercial officer Adam Grose said: “Designed to run efficiently on existing filling equipment, ProActive Recyclable RP-1000 delivers high-performance while also being easy for consumers to recycle at home.

“Brands are demanding more paper-based sustainable packaging solutions. RP-1000 fulfils ProAmpac’s promise to deliver sustainable products while not sacrificing performance.”

The firm claimed that RP-1000 is a suitable alternative to conventional multi-material laminates that are not environmentally friendly for frozen food uses like vegetables and ready-to-eat meals.

Additionally, it can be used for some dry foods and secondary packaging applications such as confectionery. RP-1000 is pre-approved for curbside recycling and is recyclable in both paper and blended streams.

ProAmpac product development and innovation global VP Hesam Tabatabaei said: “Our curbside recyclable RP-1000 series has optimum stiffness for enhanced shelf appearance, very good moisture barrier for dry products, and is designed to withstand freezer conditions.

“In addition, its premium sealant technology allows it to run on high-speed form-fill-seal equipment.”

Available formats for the RP-1000 line include roll stock, stand-up, and three-side seal pouches, ProAmpac said.

For brand enhancement and customisation, the RP-1000 is offered in natural kraft or bleached versions and uses ProAmpac’s high-definition (HD) flexographic printed graphics.

The company offers sustainable flexible packaging products to aid its customers to achieve their sustainability goals.

In November last year, ProAmpac partnered with JBT Proseal to launch North America’s first in-line sandwich packaging testing lab at the former’s Collaboration & Innovation Center (CIC).
