Packaging solutions provider Multivac has entered into a collaboration agreement with packaging machine manufacturer Italianpack to expand its product portfolio in the traysealer sector.

The deal will provide Multivac Sepp Haggenmüller with an option to acquire a 25.1% stake in Italianpack within three years.

Established in 1988, Italianpack is engaged in the manufacturing of traysealers, which are supplied across the world via a dealer network and directly.

With around 70 employees, the company reported sales of €13.7m last year.

Under the collaboration, the smaller model series of Multivac-branded traysealers produced by Italianpack will be marketed via Multivac’s global sales and service network.

Multivac, which has over 85 subsidiaries and market coverage of 165 countries, is said to be ideally positioned to contribute to the successful marketing of Italianpack’s traysealers across the world.

In a statement, Multivac Group president Christian Traumann and Italianpack managing partner Tomaso Petrini said: “Italianpack has been successful on the market for many years.

“We are looking forward to the collaboration in the traysealer business area, so that we can leverage our respective strengths in the best possible way to the benefit of our customers.”

In November last year, Multivac divested its majority stake in Finnish packaging company Trimaster, which is specialised in different packaging processes within the food and health care industry.

Multivac offers packaging solutions for food products of all types life science, and healthcare products, as well as industrial items.
