WP partnered with Henkel to develop the new functional dispensing closure to complement the newly designed bottle and reduce environmental impact.

Suitable for e-commerce use, the closure is designed to provide an enhanced pouring behavior and optimal efficiency in manufacturing and logistics.

Designed to meet the packaging demands of Henkel’s premium brand Persil WP including smaller dosing volumes and packaging formats, the new two-piece dispensing closure comprises a spout portion and a cap portion.

The close also comprises a separate doser which allows consumers to use it as a dosing device or can be placed directly in the machine.

Weener Plastics said in a statement: “One of the challenges was to prevent leakage at the micro (sealing) and macro (ruptured packaging) levels, which can be an issue during transport.

“To overcome this challenge, a soft sealing element was integrated in both closure parts to ensure tight sealing during transportation.”

The dispensing closure, which is manufactured by WP at its factory, has been tested. It is also approved for highly demanding parcel delivery requirements.

Weener noted that the closure’s smart spout has been designed to help consumers in dosing the product accurately and enable to empty the bottle completely after the last usage.

The firm uses highly advanced, fully automated equipment to validate the quality of each product before assembly of the parts.

Recently, Weener Plastics has designed and developed a new twist-lock spray cap for new NIVEA deodorant packaging.

The polypropylene cap offers an ultra-fine spray pattern and the design allows convenient left- and right-handed activation of the button.

Weener Plastics is engaged in supplying plastic packaging solutions, with a focus on the functionalities such as dispensing, containing and closing.

Employing 4,600 people at 29 facilities, the company designs, develops and manufactures added value caps, closures, roll-on balls, jars and bottles for the personal care, food & beverage and home care markets.
