German mineral water firm Förstina-Sprudel Mineral- und Heilquelle has selected plastic container solutions provider Petainer to develop a new PET refillable bottle.

The 0,75l refillable PET bottle will be used for Förstina-Sprudel’s mineral water products, including Spritzig, Medium, Sanft and Naturell.

The new Förstina Premium bottle has slim body and provides better grip for the consumer.

According to Petainer, the new Förstina Premium Bottle has been designed with a facetted impression for ensuring visual recognition.

The company is providing the new refillable PET bottle in a silver colored beverage crate with 12 bottles per crate.

Förstina-Sprudel executive board member Markus Wehner said: “Precious, regional and sustainable are the corner stones of our company philosophy. 

“That’s why we are using only refillable bottles for Förstina Sprudel – one of the most calcium rich mineral waters in Germany which is sourced from the depths of the primeval rock of the Rhön”.

Petainer sales director Herwig Libuda said: Petainer is the market-leader in refillable bottles and a supporter of refillable pool-bottles as the most sustainable beverage packaging for mineral water and soft drinks.”

With five manufacturing sites across the globe, Petainer provides its solutions to various sectors such as draught beverages, food, personal and healthcare, household and industrial.

Earlier this month, Petainer expanded its global keg product portfolio with the introduction of petainerKeg Hybrid.

The new petainerKeg Hybrid has been developed by a team of scientists and technical experts at Petainer with the support of partners such as KHS to meet the needs of users across the drinks industry, including beer, wine and cider, cold brew coffee and kombucha.

With universal filling and better handling benefits, the one-way Hybrid keg is said to offer lower total cost of ownership compared to other packaging formats such as steel and glass, as it can be filled, sent and recycled when it is empty.
