US-based custom flexible packaging firm ePac Flexible Packaging has announced the opening of its second sales and manufacturing location in Sheffield, UK.

The new location is intended to serve consumer packaging goods brands of all sizes throughout Northern England, Scotland, and Ireland.

With the new site, along with existing sites in Poland, France, and the previously announced site in Innsbruck, Austria, the packaging firm has now comprehensive and growing coverage for the whole of Europe.

ePac Europe managing director Johnny Hobeika said: “Since opening our first European plant in Silverstone in Dec 2019, we’ve grown steadily, not only in the UK but in regions across Europe.

“Our new sales and manufacturing location in Sheffield will get us even closer to our local and regional brands, as well as larger brands with a pan-European or global presence.

“Furthermore, we have recently launched ePacONE (One Network Everywhere), a proprietary cloud-based system that connects all 24 ePac locations across the globe, enabling our customers to have their jobs produced at scale, when they’re needed, where they’re needed.

“Additionally, with ePacConnect, our connected packaging solution, brands can discover new ways to enhance their communication with consumers.”

ePac aims to develop a circular economy with sustainability in focus. The firm allows customers to place orders in response to demand and reduces inventory and obsolescence. The orders are shipped within five to 15 business days.

The amount of packing that would otherwise end up in landfills is significantly decreased as a result, the packaging firm said.

The company provides options for sustainable materials and runs a printing platform that is all-digital, carbon-neutral, and more environmentally friendly than traditional packaging printing techniques.

Last month, the packaging firm introduced ePacONE (One Network Everywhere), an integrated network that connects worldwide packaging plants.

ePacONE is said to be a virtual manufacturing platform which connects all ePac locations and operates them as a single manufacturing plant.
