Cosmetic products manufacturer Aptar Beauty + Home has opened its Go2Lab innovation centre in Trumbull, Connecticut to boost product packaging development and innovation.

The new centre offers sampling, lab testing, custom design and development, working prototypes, as well as tooling and moulding, all in one place for packaging innovation.

Aptar said that brands can collaborate to conceptualise through workshops and brainstorming sessions to guide them in the design-to-delivery process.

Aptar Beauty + Home North America president Laura Estebanez said: “The launch of this facility is pioneering the way in finding faster packaging solutions to address innovation needs driven by consumer trends.

“Traditionally, launching products to market has lead times that can be as far out as six months. Our services help brand partners reduce those lead times to weeks with the accessibility of our 3D printing and prototyping capabilities, lab services, and fast tooling. This will allow products to get to market faster.”

The packaging firm aims to maintain a steady stream of innovations that enhance consumers’ quality of life on a global scale.

Its Business to Business to Consumer (B2B2C) strategy makes use of customer and consumer data to improve both the standard and customised packaging user experience.

Aptar Beauty + Home North America vice president & general manager Amy Hartzell said: “The competition on the shelf has intensified, particularly as we return post-Covid, and just like we see in the sports world, in business, ‘speed matters’.

“The ability to test-and-scale and release innovations in their minimally viable state are new capabilities that we bring with our Go2Lab.

“This more agile process provides the opportunity for iterations, giving our customers the chance to test with consumers before massive scaling. Our customers experience significantly lower investment risk and faster overall time to market.”

In June this year, the firm collaborated with cosmetics packaging manufacturer Quadpack to develop a refillable lipstick, known as Iconic Woodacity Lipstick.
