Sustainable paper and packaging solutions provider WestRock has unveiled plans to construct a new corrugated box facility in Washington, US.

The new facility, to be built in Longview, will help the company to better meet the requirements of all industry segments and markets in the Pacific Northwest.

Upon completion, the new facility is said to replace the firm’s existing corrugated operations in Longview.

The new corrugated box facility is designed to be co-located with the Longview paper mill operations to enhance the integration of the mill’s containerboard.

WestRock CEO David Sewell said: “WestRock’s corrugated packaging business in the Pacific Northwest continues to perform well, with strong relationships with customers in attractive growth markets.

“Our new corrugated packaging plant will enable our team in this region to serve these customers even better in the future, with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that will provide new capabilities and efficiencies for our customers.”

In September last year, food processing company Heinz and WestRock unveiled a new paperboard sleeve for multipack canned products.

WestRock serves customers in different markets, including beauty and personal, beverage, food, foodservice, healthcare, retail, tobacco and others.

With around 50,000 team members, WestRock has over 320 manufacturing facilities, design centres, research labs, and sales offices across the world.
