Westfall Technik, an international network of companies, has acquired California-based AMA Plastics for an undisclosed sum.

AMA Plastics operates a class manufacturing site offering both ISO 8 clean room and white room molding for a variety of applications.

The over 165,000ft2 facility comprises 95 injection molding machines from 35 to 720 tons of clamp force while the ISO Class 8 clean room currently holds 16 injection molding machines and will be expanded to include clean room assembly.

Westfall said that the acquisition expands its design, prototyping, toolmaking and molding capabilities in the Southwest.

AMA Plastics also provides complementary capabilities and increased scale to the Westfall Technik group of companies, the firm noted.

Additionally, AMA Plastics offers multi component and vertical molding as well as innovative automation systems.

Westfall Technik said in the AMA facility gives it the size and scale needed to execute larger medical and packaging applications already in the Westfall Pipeline and enables for future expansion in the Southwest Region.

“The company noted that upgrades are already in process for injection molding and quality assurance equipment.

Earlier this year, Westfall Technik had acquired US-based AMS Plastics in a bid to boost its design, prototyping and toolmaking capabilities in the Southwest.

AMS Plastics operates 75,000ft2 manufacturing site in Ciudad Industrial Nueva, Tijuana, Mexico. It operates 32 injection molding machines from 50 to 1,000 tons of clamp force including vertical and multi-component machinery.

Westfall earlier said it continues to expand its footprint and capabilities domestically and internationally in order to complete its technology roadmap.
