South Africa-based Tropic Plastic & Packaging has invested in a new Comexi F2 MB flexographic press.

Planned to be installed at its facilities in Durban, the Comexi F2 MB press marks Tropic Plastic & Packaging’s third purchase from Comexi within the last two years and the fifth since 2011.
The new Comexi F2 MB flexographic press will complement Tropic Plastic & Packaging’s existing Comexi’s technologies which include Comexi FPLUS flexographic press and Comexi F2 MP press, among others.
Tropic managing director Ismail Simjee said: “At the moment, Comexi is the industry leader when it comes to flexographic printing presses. Their attention to detail is immaculate and every element is tailored for our purposes.
“We are well positioned to take advantage of the new requirements and developments in the African packaging market, primarily as a result of our investment in innovation and partnership with great suppliers such as Comexi.”
Tropic Plastic & Packaging purchased its first Comexi machine, a Comexi FPLUS flexographic press in 2011.
Simjee added: “Comexi’s after sales service has been our primary reason for continuing to purchase new machines from the company.
“They have helped us gain a competitive edge in the southern African market and we have won numerous prestigious awards, including the gold award at the Gold Pack Awards for best overall plastic in South Africa and the gold award at the Flexographic Print Excellence Awards.”
The Comexi F2 MB press is designed to meet the print needs of medium runs in the flexible packaging sector of the retail and wholesale channels. It features patented FLEXOEfficiency concepts of ergonomics and accessibility.
Tropic Plastic & Packaging produces low-density polyethylene printed and plain quality packaging material.
It is engaged in manufacturing polyethylene films and its derivatives, printing and converting of flexible packaging in various forms, as well as lamination.
The firm’s product range includes printed polyethylene bags, plain polyethylene bags, printed polyethylene sheeting, clear polyethylene shrink packaging, printed polyethylene shrink packaging, clear and printed contoured bottom bags, printed polyethylene wicketted bags, printed and plain polyethylene tubing, and laminated printed film and bags.
