Compostable packaging solutions provider TIPA has collaborated with speciality film manufacturer Charter Next Generation (CNG) to boost local production and adoption of compostable packaging in the US.

The partnership is expected to reduce global carbon emissions by removing the need for firms to traditionally import packaging by allowing the local production of biodegradable packaging.

CNG has also introduced a new biodegradable film exclusive to North America along with the partnership that broadens TIPA’s market in the US.

The speciality film maker will manufacture TIPA’s new speciality packaging films for food, consumer, healthcare, and other end-use markets.

As part of the collaboration, CNG will produce two films, including TIPA’s newly launched TIPACLEAR 301 and its TIPACLEAR 319, which are exclusive to North America.

Both films are said to be transparent, readily available in a range of thicknesses and uses, home compostable films for food and consumer goods packaging.

US-based CNG intends to further penetrate the North American market for biodegradable films by including TIPA’s products in its portfolio.

TIPA North America Strategic Business Development acting GM Michael Hanratty said: “We are thrilled to count CNG as our partner, expanding the commercial availability of compostable packaging options in North America.

“This is a significant step to help businesses actively contribute to curbing the reliance on conventional flexible plastics and navigate quickly-changing policies on packaging waste management for the benefit of the planet.”

The development represents a crucial turning point for US companies looking for environmentally friendly packaging alternatives to reduce plastic pollution, TIPA said.

The compostable packaging solutions provider offers fully compostable alternatives for traditional plastic counterparts that have the same functionalities as traditional plastic counterparts.

Additionally, TIPA’s packaging is compatible with existing machinery throughout the entire supply chain of packaging production.

CNG Strategic Partnerships director Apurva Shah said: “TIPA’s expertise in compostable materials combined with CNG’s market position and reputation as a high quality, reliable, innovator in sustainable solutions creates an unparalleled combination to penetrate the North American market.”
