Flexible packaging company ProAmpac has acquired US-based flexible packaging and labelling services provider Prairie State Group (PSG) for an undisclosed sum.

Based in Franklin Park, Illinois, PSG is involved in the manufacturing of a range of SQF-certified and environmentally-friendly flexible packaging and label solutions such as wrappers, pouches, compostable film, roll stock and pressure-sensitive labels.

PSG president Graham Redding said: “PSG’s expertise in labelling, pouching and compostable products is a great fit with ProAmpac’s offering of sustainability-focused packaging solutions.

“Our partnership will advance our commitment to innovation and position our businesses to serve a broader customer base with high-quality, specialized products.”

The acquisition of PSG will allow ProAmpac to strengthen its flexible and sustainable packaging offerings for the food and pet food markets, in addition to expanding its labelling capabilities.

PSG is said to add advanced, vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities, as well as a diverse base of long-tenured customers to ProAmpac.

PSG will also enable ProAmpac to enhance its pouching capabilities.

ProAmpac founder and CEO Greg Tucker said: “PSG’s experienced leadership team and innovative sustainable packaging portfolio are strong complements to ProAmpac.

“As we continue our growth and expansion strategy, PSG’s world-class manufacturing capabilities, strong market position and commitment to product quality will enhance our offering to customers around the world.”

Last month, ProAmpac acquired Irish Flexible Packaging and Fispak, which provide sustainable and flexible packaging solutions for dairy, bakery, meat, fish and cheese markets in Ireland and across the globe.

ProAmpac, which is owned by Pritzker Private Capital, serves over 5,000 customers in 90 countries with more than 6,000 employees.
