Sweden-based Nordisk Rörmärkning (Nordic Printing) has selected the Mouvent LB701-UV inkjet label press from Swiss firm Bobst for its facility in Älvängen, Sweden.

The new UV inkjet label press, with six colours (CMYKOV) and white, will optimise the manufacturing of pipe markings, decals, stickers and tapes, said Bobst.

The move to select the new label press forms part of the Swedish firm’s decision to transition from flexo printing to digital printing, for increased flexibility and productivity.

Bobst Mouvent LB701-UV is said to suit most of the Swedish firm’s needs, as the inks have passed rigorous testing by its weather simulator.

The in-house simulator tested the inks for prolonged exposure to sun, wind and rain.

Nordic Printing CEO and owner Christian Kjellberg said: “We need highly durable inks because we offer a 10-year guarantee on our long-lasting products.

“After evaluating the capabilities of the Bobst Mouvent LB701-UV, which prints at 70 meters per minute, I began to realise that not only was it the best choice for our current portfolio, but the high productivity meant that we would also have spare capacity.

“Digital label printing may be a new business area for us, but the technical knowledge we have from making signs, decals, and stickers for many years means that we know all about substrates, inks and converting, plus we also have a lot of experience selling online.”

Mouvent LB701-UV, part of the Bobst oneLABEL portfolio, is said to support companies that aim to move into full-colour digital label production.

It prints in a native resolution of 1200 x 1200dpi and the 70m/min speed has the potential to return an output of up to 75,000m2 of labels per month, and requires only one operator.

The press is designed for fast setups and changeovers and has a small footprint due to Bobst’s compact printheads powered by Mouvent Technology.

The new digital press is part of its SEK4.5m (€451,000) investment, which also includes installing a new finishing line from Swedish manufacturer Grafotronic.

Kjellberg added: “We now have the flexibility to produce any run length of labels that our customers need, and the print quality is fantastic. Gone are the days of paying high repro costs, waiting for flexo plates to be made, dealing with long set ups, and worrying over unwanted downtime.

“The possibilities with this high-productivity machine are great and we have only just scratched the surface.

“With the LB701-UV from Bobst in house, we can easily live up to our motto of ‘Fast delivery, good service, satisfaction guarantee’ and continue to grow the company safe in the knowledge that we have invested in the best-in-class UV inkjet press on the market.”
