Global packaging and paper producer Mondi has unveiled plans to further invest €30m in its corrugated packaging facility in Bupak, Czech Republic, to better serve e-commerce customers in the region.

Mondi will use the investment to install advanced corrugators at Bupak facility, which will help to produce innovative and efficient packaging solutions.
The upgrades at the facility are expected to be completed in 2020.
The investment will allow to increase theproduction capacity at the facility, enabling the firm to produce more than 200 million sqm of corrugated board per year.
A team of design experts at Mondi Bupak facility will provide consultancy services to customers, including quality simulations of the entire value chain ranging from paper to board, from board to box, and from box to transport.
Mondi Corrugated Packaging COO Armand Schoonbrood said: “The digital transformation is rapidly changing society, and the way we consume. The rise of e-commerce in particular has radically transformed the packaging industry.
“Driven by a growing consumer demand, the competitive Czech market calls for a strong footprint in corrugated packaging.”
Schoonbrood further said: “This investment will enable Mondi Bupak to deliver solutions for every packaging 2 challenge our customers could possibly face and will make it the first port-of-call for ecommerce customers in the Czech, German and Austrian markets.”
Mondi corrugated packaging, which is a business segment of Mondi Group, supplies corrugated packaging solutions to the customers in Europe. The segment more focuses on customers in Central and South-East Europe.
Via network of 16 plants, the firm offers advanced design and gluing technology to the customers. Its packaging products include standard transit cases, heavy duty containers and consumer displays.
The firm’s solutions can be used as shelf or retailready solutions transport cases or large containers for shipping FMCG’s, perishables, industrial and dangerous goods, as well as other products.
Mondi is integrated across the packaging and paper value chain ranging from managing forests and producing pulp, paper and plastic films to develop and manufacture industrial and consumer packaging solutions.
