Dutch chemical company LyondellBasell has partnered with speciality polymers producer MSI Technology for consumer packaging in North America.
Under the agreement, MSI Technology will serve the LyondellBasell Polybutene-1 (PB-1) resin line in consumer packaging applications.
MSI Technology intends to enhance its consumer packaging capabilities by leveraging its existing speciality product portfolio in conjunction with its technical sales strategy.
Additionally, MSI Technology serves as the LyondellBasell Plexar product line’s sales representative.
The expansion of the relationship is a strategic fit relative to the markets MSI Technology serves currently.
LyondellBasell Polymers vice president Palmer Giddings said: “At LyondellBasell, we’re passionate about creating solutions for everyday sustainable living.

LyondellBasell PB-1 resins are frequently utilised for easy-open packaging and film modification for seal initiation temperature in consumer packaging applications.
The resin is said to offer a broad seal-peel temperature range along with consistent and reproducible peel performance.
It also has adjustable peel force for end-use requirements and whitening with a smooth & clean peel surface.
Suitable for use in blown film, cast film, extrusion coating and sheet extrusion, PB-1 resins offer good seal integrity with easy processability, the chemical company claimed.
MSI Technology’s product lines include the PB-1 resin line. Additionally, the firm gives customers guidance on technical resin selection to meet customer requirements.
