Lummus Technology subsidiary Green Circle has collaborated with Chevron Lummus Global (CLG), a joint venture between Chevron U.S.A. and Lummus Technology, to offer integrated circular solutions.

Under the deal, the companies will incorporate multiple technologies from their portfolios for application in the circular economy.

Both firms will provide integrated solutions for the production of recycled plastics from mixed-waste plastics.

To support operators producing steam cracker products in large quantities from hydro processed mixed-waste plastic pyrolysis oil, the Lummus New Hope Energy plastic pyrolysis technology will be combined with CLG’s Isoconversion technology.

CLG managing director Ujjal Mukherjee said: “We believe that innovation is paramount in delivering the solutions and technology needed to transition plastics to a circular model. We have advanced our Isoconversion technology to now address the unique challenges faced in plastic recycling.”

The Lummus New Hope Energy plastic pyrolysis technology is used for the recycling of end-of-life plastics into petrochemical feedstock.

Using the thermal pyrolysis process, the technology produces quality pyrolysis oil that will allow operators to replace or supplement oil-derived feedstocks.

Lummus’ steam ethylene cracking technology is used for the production of polymer grade ethylene, polymer grade propylene and butadiene.

Using advanced hydroprocessing technologies, CLG’s Isoconversion technology for the processing of biomass and waste plastic pyrolysis oils to renewable fuels or petrochemical feedstocks.

Last month, Green Circle entered into a letter of intent with UK-based Phigenesis for recycling waste plastics to petrochemical feedstock materials.
