Hippo Premium Packaging is offering complimentary cannabis packaging compliance services for its clients.

The company has hired an attorney with expertise in compliance to spearhead the service.

Jim Hoffert is leading the compliance team at Hippo. Jim is a regulatory compliance officer and was a senior partner in a California law firm and is also a licensed real estate broker. Jim graduated from UCLA (magna cum laude) with a degree in public law, and has a law degree from USC.

Jim is providing regulatory compliance services to Hippos’ clients to help assure that their packaging will meet state and local regulations. This is especially important in California, where cannabis packaging regulations are in flux, subject to broad interpretation, and are under scrutiny from state regulators. In just the past few months, many cannabis companies have been forced to trash millions of dollars worth of packaging that did not meet California’s complicated packaging rules.

Kary Radestock, Co-Founder and CEO of Hippo Premium Packaging, said that packaging rules can be confusing, and the wrong design can result in significant costs and delays.

“Every state with a legal cannabis program has very specific rules regarding packaging. It is imperative to follow those regulations, which unfortunately, can often be open to misinterpretation,” she said. “In California, the regulations regarding packaging can seem bewildering – with updates and proposed changes coming with alarming frequency. That’s why we decided to develop our own in-house compliance department to help our clients successfully navigate these turbulent waters, and create packaging solutions that not only build brands and sell more products, but also carefully follow state and local regulations.”

While Hoffert is providing regulatory compliance services to Hippo’s clients, he is not providing legal counsel. Hippo’s clients are encouraged to seek the advice of their own counsel for legal opinions.
