The Rapida 145 press has been commissioned at the Hammer-Lübeck packaging facility, which is specialized in producing folding carton products for the food and luxury food industry.

With 106 x 145cm (41.7 x 57in) format, the Rapida 145 press holds capacity to produce up to 18,000 sheets per hour.

KBA’s system allows to use more than 93% of the time for the printing process and it goes back into operation after job changeover times of10 minutes.

The press is provided with QualiTronic ColorControl to improve inline ink density measurement and control, while the use of digital color databases enables to enhance the process of printing spot colors.

The measuring and control technology allows to quickly achieve lab targeted color range through using ink density values based on the substrate. Color database are used to manage both lab target color coordinates and target colour densities

KBA provides its own special inks to be used with Rapida 145, and the advanced measuring technology allows to simulate the required illuminant to meet all specifications.

The CXF files offered by the customer will provide all information about the ink, in addition to determining the Lab color range.

QualiTronic ColorControl will also measure and assess measuring strips at the trailing edge of the sheet, helping to easily use with the existing cutting dies, creasing plates and blank separators.

The extended sheet guide enables to work up to substrate thicknesses of 350g/m² (225lbs) based on the material.

Rapida 145 press also supports plate stretching. The dimensional changes occur repeatedly during the printing process at the rear sheet edge when using simple types of board, which may result in negative effect on the display of small reverse type.

The ErgoTronic PlateStretch will allow to conveniently control the process from the press console.

At present, the Hammer-Lübeck packaging plant processes 20,000 tons of cartonboard per annum into 750 million folding cartons.
