Germany-based Ravensburger has invested in two KBA Rapida presses, in a bid to enhance its production operations.

Ravensburger offers puzzles, games and activity products, as well as publishes children's and youth books in the German-speaking region.

The company has purchased large-format Rapida 145 press and medium-format Rapida 105 press, which will allow to increase print production.

Rapida 145, which features five printing units and inline coater, has been commissioned to replace an old large-format press.

Rapida 145 uses narrower colour bars and allows to use gripper margin for die-cutting.

The medium-format Rapida 105 has been carrying out operations for several years and has been selected once again to support the production operations.

Ravensburger has invested up to €4m to purchase the presses and renovate the hall.

With a capacity to produce 15,000 sheets per hour, Rapida 145 features DriveTronic SPC with PlateIdent, CleanTronic Synchro and DriveTronic SFC coater with AniSleeve.

One test sheet is normally sufficient before actual production commences on the Rapida presses.

Ravensburger production head Günter Märker said: “We can swear by our Rapidas for their advantages in board printing.

“Print quality is extremely important for us. With the Rapida presses, we are ideally equipped for the future.”

In July, Pakistan-based Deluxe Packages has invested in KBA’s seven-colour Rapida 106 sheetfed offset press to increase its production operations.

The company has installed seven-colour sheetfed offset press at its Karachi facility to sart production in autumn.

With enhanced print format and production output, the Rapida 106 press can be used for mixed conventional or UV production.
