Nigerian Bottling (NBC) has introduced new ultra glass bottle for its brands, Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite in Benin City, Nigeria.

Ultra, which is available in Abuja, Rivers and Lagos, has been introduced in 2008, reports codewit.com.

NBC regional commercial director Tunji Akinseesin was quoted by the publication as saying, "Together with the new full-depth case packaging, it also offers a longer lifespan in trade, because it is tougher, 40% more durable and less vulnerable to breakage and scuffing compared to the regular bottle."

According to Akinseesin, the bottle needs around 14% less raw materials and is 20% lighter and 40% durable.

Globally, the bottles were introduced in 2000, while they were first unveiled in the country in June 2011.

Claimed to be eco-friendly, the light-weight glass bottle was created through an innovation by the Coca-Cola System, according to the company.

The glass bottle with a full-depth case packaging, is small and tougher and is said to provide an extended lifespan in trade.

When compared to a regular bottle, the new ultra is less vulnerable to breakage.
