UK-based independent corrugated packaging producer Cepac has invested £2m for the expansion of its Rawcliffe site in East Yorkshire, to increase its speciality offering to the market.

The firm has invested to expand production area by 35,000ft2, thus enabling installation of new equipment to increase the site’s specialty offering to the market, and improve workflow. It has increased capacity by over 20%.

Rawcliffe operation general manager Richard Moore said: “This investment provides us with the additional space to invest in the latest machinery, enhance workflow and increase capacity.

“It is an exciting opportunity to develop and increase the services and products we can offer to our existing customers and new partners.”

The Cepac’s Rawcliffe facility is equipped to provide bespoke corrugated supply chain solutions, covering a wide range of sectors.

Cepac said that the investment has allowed the site to re-configure workflow and assembly areas, which including a new, dedicated hand assembly section.

As part of the investment plan, the firm has installed two Tanabe multi-point gluers and three stitching machines in the new production hall.

It has also enhanced downstream palletisation, strapping and stretchwrapping capabilities in order to improve pack presentation and throughput efficiency.

The improvements and new equipment at the Rawcliffe facility allow Cepac to significantly extend its capability, including an expanded offering of stitched UN-approved boxes, designed for packaging and transporting hazardous goods including flammable, toxic or corrosive materials, the firm noted.

In addition to Rawcliffe plant, Cepac operates facilities at Darlington, Doncaster and Rotherham.
