Indian laminating adhesives maker Brilliant Polymers has unveiled capacity expansion in the form of a new plant at its site in Ambernath, Maharashtra.
The new facility, which commenced operations on 2 July 2022, will help the company double the overall capacity at the Ambernath site to 45,600 metric tons.
It entailed an investment of INR1bn ($12.5m).
The enhanced capacity has made the new facility one of the largest single sites in the world for the production of laminating adhesives, said the company.
With the new capacity, Brilliant Polymers intends to boost its presence in global markets and new technologies.
The company said that DCS technology is used to operate the new facility which can handle large batch sizes of up to 35 tonnes to enable economies of scale while improving capacity and quality.
The firm plans to introduce several new products in the market for solvent-based and solvent-free adhesives in the upcoming months to enable the company to further step up its R&D operations.
It is also planning to develop new, high-performance solvent-based adhesives with uses in retorts and high-running solids of 50–55% solids.
Brilliant Polymers plans to introduce brand-new low monomer goods created with pure MDI in the quickly expanding solvent-free market.
The firm has created the Brilliant Polymers Sustainable Growth Plan, which sets a goal of improving social impact while decoupling growth from its environmental footprint.
