Bonduelle, a France-based processed vegetables supplier, has reached a definitive agreement with Seneca Foods to acquire its plant in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, US.

The Lebanon plant, used for the packaging of frozen products, was built in 2008 and acquired by Seneca in 2010.

The plant has a capacity of 45,000 tons on 7 packaging lines in perfect working order, with a large storage capacity, and has 140 permanent collaborators.

The transaction, effective from 11 February 2019, is expected to give the seasonality of the activity, be accretive from the 2019-2020 financial year.

It includes industrial assets, stocks of frozen products and the personnel of the Lebanon industrial site.

The company said that the Bonduelle Americas Long Life business unit (BALL), has remained limited in its development capacity until recently and is completing its frozen industrial facility in North America, with 4 industrial facilities in the Eastern United States and 6 in Canada.

The additional packaging capacity is expected to generate revenue and additionally, the proposed acquisition is expected to deliver both industrial and logistical synergies and offer enhanced quality of service for the benefit of BALL business unit customers.

In October 2018, Bonduelle Fresh Europe has opened its new headquarters with high environmental quality in Genas, France. The new building was designed to combine positive environmental impacts with employee well-being.

The company said that the building has a green design where workers can enjoy 28,000sqft of open, green, HQE certified space. Here employees have access to various services through a one-stop support office that will help people overcome obstacles that prevent them from having a fulfilling work life.

These services are expected to help the employees balance their personal life with their work responsibilities and promote eco-responsible behaviors. The support service offer a car wash service using eco-responsible cleaning products, and a plastic sorting and recycling facility.

The company claims that its new headquarters in Lyon is a symbol of the Group’s desire to stay committed to and involved with its local, national, and international environments.
