A&R Logistics (A&R) has launched its export packaging and warehousing business in Savannah, Georgia, for the plastic resin industry.

A&R has partnered with the Georgia Ports Authority (“GPA”) to bring this service to one of the largest ports in the country.

Commenting on the announcement, Russ Boullion, VP Commercial – Warehousing and Packaging, stated “We are very excited to start up our export service two months ahead of schedule and under budget.  Our new export operation features the latest in technology, a new Windmoeller & Hoelscher Topas SL2600 form, fill and seal packaging line.

In addition, we have installed supersack, box and bulk container loading capabilities.  We have received our first rail cars of resin and the operation is performing ahead of schedule.  Our demand for export services has grown considerably over the past few months and we are very pleased with our results to-date.”

A&R’s export business provides a flexible and efficient supply chain alternative for the export of plastic resins produced in the U.S. The launch of the export business adds a very strategic dimension to A&R’s industry leading bulk transportation, warehousing and packaging and 3PL suite of services.

“The opening of A&R’s export packaging facility is an exciting addition to the Savannah market’s cargo handling capabilities,” said Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director Griff Lynch. “With their announcement, Savannah is now a viable alternative for resins produced in the Gulf Coast area.”

The Port of Savannah is home to the largest single-terminal container facility of its kind in North America.  Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal is the fourth busiest container handling facility in the United States, encompassing more than 1,200 acres and moving millions of tons of containerized cargo annually.

Savannah offers the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts’ largest selection of global ocean carrier services with 38 weekly vessel calls, making Savannah the unequaled gateway to reach more of the markets needed to succeed.
