Integrated packaging solutions provider Multivac has announced the construction of a new sales and production facility in Ghiloth in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

The new facility, which is being developed with an investment of around €6.8m, is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Featuring a usable space of up to 10,000m², the new modern complex will employ around 100 people.

Multivac India managing director Ritesh Dhingra said: “We would like to thank our customers in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for their confidence in Multivac which is the basis for investing in such a facility.”

Multivac’s new facility will feature a production area with assembly of thermoforming packaging machines and traysealers, in addition to the manufacturing of dies and format sets in around 5,000m².

The new facility will also consist of a separate hall area for stocking spare parts and consumable materials.

Multivac Group president Guido Spix said: “The declared aim is to provide the optimum service to customers through regional proximity and shorter delivery times.

“The Indian sales company with its own showroom, as well as a training & application centre for packaging and bakery machines, will be located at the same site.

In 2009, Multivac and Laraon Group have established a joint venture to carry out business operations in the country and develop new markets in South Asia.

Multivac operates a further 13 production sites in Germany, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Japan and the US, in addition to the new facility in India.

The company also manages more than 80 sales and service companies across the globe.

Last month, Multivac closed the acquisition of complete holdings in Germany-based TVI Entwicklung und Produktion, which offers meat portioning machines and complete portioning lines.
